A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nicole Plourde, Melissa Wedge, Nathan Morin, John Moulis, Marion Huntley, Steve Michaud, Corinne Cascadden, Gary Bisson, Tim Forestall, Ken Proulx, John Donaldson, Dan Record, Beverly Dupont, Jane Provencher, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, John Donaldson, Jan Millis, Naomi Levesque, Roland Simard, Pam Altomare, Robert Rodrigue, and members of the press. The meeting was chaired by Nathan Morin.
MINUTES On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Melissa Wedge, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the May 7, 2008 meeting as amended, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS A motion was made by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Melissa Wedge, to approve the warrants dated May 12, 19, and May 26, 2008 for the amounts of $11,355.15, $1,437.53, and $182,056.05, respectively. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
COMMENTS None
FED GRANTS On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Melissa Wedge, the Board voted to authorize the Superintendent to accept monies for federal and state grants that occur during the 2008-2009 school year. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative
FY09 BUDGET The Board was reminded of the City Public Budget Hearing on May 29, 2008.
BOARD MTGS On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Melissa Wedge, the Board voted to approve the Board meeting calendar as presented in their packet for the 2008-2009 school year as amended. Noon meetings will be added in July and August to pay bills and for potential staffing. The motion passed unanimously.
SUPER REPORT Jane Provencher updated the Board on Title I efforts throughout this past school year and informed them of the Title I book program.
Ken Proulx discussed the NECAP scores and AYP.
Jan Millis and Naomi Levesque gave the Board information and an update on the successes of the After School Program.
COMMENTS Roland Pinette informed the Board of the CNA/LNA certificate/licensing testing to be held as a result of the students’ training at BHS; the building trades students will be OSHA certified upon completion of their program; and the welding students are awaiting the results of their testing for the AWS certification. The preliminary results look positive.
NON PUBLIC On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Melissa Wedge, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:40 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II (a), (b), (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Melissa Wedge, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:10 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. One additional vote was taken in nonpublic session.
STAFFING On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Melissa Wedge, the Board voted to accept the following staffing changes:

Pam Altomare – Art Teacher – Elementary/BJHS
All nominations are contingent on the applicant passing a criminal record check.
ADJOURN On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Melissa Wedge, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7:12 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
